My sustained investigation explores the multitude of emotions I felt over the course of my Chron's Disease diagnosis. Much like the concept of the five stages of grief, I wanted to explore how my emotions progressed throughout my journey and see what kind of pathway they created. However, I realized early on in my sustained investigation that I did not want to follow the typical route of using a human subject for my photos displaying the emotions I wanted to portray. Instead, I decided that I wanted to personify everyday objects and depict the emotions I was trying to convey abstractly.

My investigation is a roadmap of my emotional state throughout my process of being diagnosed with Chron's Disease. I broke my images down into three sections, with images 1-7 representing my initial reaction to the diagnosis, images 8-11 representing my everyday emotional being after the diagnosis, and images 12-15 representing my shift in emotions after a period of time and learning how to cope with the disease. I had to practice and revise many different techniques when creating my images, including painting, blurring, and digitally editing, to successfully portray my investigation.
